Sen Yan, Ph.D., Professor, Investigator of GHMICR, honored as the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars,Young Pearl River Scholar, The main interest is to understand the molecular mechanical of neurodegeneration disease such as HD, AD, PD, ALS. 1. Currently, we focus on Huntington’s disease (HD) and Alzheimer disease which might caused by misfolded protein. Embryonic development and gene modification in embryo. 2. Using large animal models are extremely valuable to help them understand the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders and to find treatments for them. 3. Gene therapy for large animal model of neurodegenerative diseases. Some work were published in journal of Cell,PNAS,Human Molecular Genetics,Molecular Neurodegeneration,Plos genetics. The goal of the studies is to provide mechanistic insight into the pathogenesis of neurodegeneration caused by misfolding protein and to help develop effective therapeutic strategies.
