Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Institute of CNS Regeneration (GHMICR) of Jinan University, formerly known as Collaborative Laboratory for Brain Function and Health between Hong Kong University and Jinan University, was established in November 2012. Having developed a close collaboration with research institutes from Hong Kong, Macau (the Greater Bay Area) and oversea countries, GHMICR aims to develop as a world-class research institute for teaching, basic and translational research targeting regeneration and functional repair of central nervous system.
Since the initiation of collaborative laboratory in 2009, GHMICR has obtained major progress in the field of neuroscience research and clinical application. GHIMICR has been nominated as Joint International Research Laboratory of CNS Regeneration, Ministry of Education of PRC, and Key Medical Research Laboratory of Guangdong Province. Since its inception, GHMICR has recruited a group of distinguished scholars from China and overseas, including member of Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) and fellowship from Ministry of Education of PRC. Focusing on five strategic fields including molecular regulation of neurogenesis, spinal cord injury and repair, pathogenesis and treatment for brain injury, optical injury and visual function, and non-human primate models, we have obtained a number of cutting-edge academic outputs in recent years.
As one of the most frontier discipline in biomedical science, neuroscience in China is now facing both opportunities and challenges. With the emerging of China Brain Project, we invite all scholars, clinicians and donators from all countries in the world to accelerate the research of neural regeneration and functional repair, in order to benefit both the progression of neural science and human health.
